Personalized Trauma-Informed Therapy
Hello and Welcome
I’m Lisa Parker. I have been in private practice for over a decade, specializing in trauma-informed care. With warmth and compassion, I support individuals on their journey of growth and healing. I invite you to reach out if you have questions about this process and what to expect. Every person’s journey is unique, so it is natural to have specific questions that may not be addressed here.
What is Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)?
Complex Trauma shares core symptoms with PTSD, such as flashbacks and nightmares, avoidance (staying away from people and places or using substances, or even self-harm to avoid reminders), and hyperarousal (feeling constantly on guard, startling easily, difficulty sleeping and concentrating, as well as consistent irritability).
Complex Trauma differs from PTSD in that it develops after long-term abuse and/or neglect, rather than a single traumatic event. This sustained abuse/neglect creates additional symptoms that can include dissociation, emotional dysregulation, physical symptoms (headaches, autoimmune, etc.), relationship difficulties, feelings of powerlessness, or a loss of meaning or identity.
What makes me specially qualified to treat C-PTSD?
I have extensive education and training in human development, attachment theories, personality disorders, grief and loss, and trauma. Additionally, I have deep knowledge and training in childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional) and neglect both in families and in religious systems.
Who should seek treatment and why:
Individuals who are ready to work through the effects of past trauma and work towards a more fulfilled life and would like someone who is warm, compassionate, and empathetic to come alongside them. If you experience chronic feelings of shame, fear, anxiety, dissociation, or emotional dysregulation, there is hope. I encourage you to reach out.
I offer a free 20-minute Consultation to see if we are a good fit.
